It blows my mind that some people think what you wear doesn’t matter. Like it or not, people can see what you look like, and since we can’t all run around naked all day (at least not all day every day) you’re going to have to get dressed. People are going to see what you are wearing, and then make a judgment based on what they see. Like it or not.
The way I see it, this is where the fun part starts. Through your clothes you have the opportunity to speak volumes, and every time you pick out an outfit you are choosing the message you want to send to the world. This message can be anything, from conservative to slutty to gothy to hungover. Even choosing not to care about what you wear is saying something, and some part of you wants people to know that. Like it or not.
Because it is such an unavoidable choice, fashion fascinates me. Not just high fashion, but low fashion, no fashion, and all the implications, assumptions, and confusion that comes with it. In this blog, I am hoping to engage in a twice weekly discussion of all aspects of the fashion question in whatever form that takes. We all have to get dressed everyday, we share that if nothing else. So let’s talk about it: what exactly are we doing?
